I've also found that Crash DVD are (were?) distributed by Koch Entertainment. Oh, and one more thing before I begin, this thread will be a work in progress that will constantly be updated. In fact, you can read more about it in this court case. This means a company deliberately selling films it doesn't have the rights to, companies unwittingly buying the rights from the wrong company, or selling something thinking that it's "public domain" (even though US copyright laws state that all foreign works that were once considered PD now have their rights restored to their original owners, just as long as the work isn't public domain in its country of origin). I should note that for purposes of this thread, the term "bootleg" shall be applied to any movie that is being sold/distributed in a major retailer ("brick and mortar" or online) without the permission of the rights holder. All I ask is that you wait until I finish the list before including any of this information in your letters. I'll also throw in some contact information for major (US) retailers to aid in any letter-writing campaigns. As I noted here, I'm setting up this thread in an attempt to determine if a company is selling bootlegged movies in major retailers, how to contact the rightsholders for said movies (or major retailers), and to find out as much information (especially business contact information) about bootleg companies as possible. ![]()
